Environmentally Friendly Projects

Land Management

Maintaining a traditional Highland estate successfully demands constant reinvestment through incomes generated by a variety of diverse enterprises.  Tourism, Forestry, Farming, Residential Lettings and the farm gate sales of produce.

We aim to manage the land in a way that benefits the environment and peripheral ecosystems as well as providing jobs and homes for local people.

We have a commitment to maintain landscape and historic buildings and in 2006 we started repairing the Historic Farm steading at Leckmelm.  We are involved in the Rural Stewardship scheme and have been using traditional cropping techniques, tree planting in shelterbelts and grazing the pastures using traditional breeds of animal.  Currently we are restoring the old sawmill to make an additional byre for the animals.

Adopt A beach

We have adopted the beach from Corry Point to Creag Iohlaire on Loch Broom and organise an annual cleanup.    Or check out the Marine Conservation Society's other beaches.

Working with Ullapool High School

We are working in 2018 Ullapool High school on an exciting project to commemorate WW1 and the Estate's links to the publication "The Men of Lochbroom".
