Campbeltown CottagesBuilt in 1880 these Cottages offer warmth and comfort whatever the weather. Each cottage is individually decorated and can provide a suitable base for any type of holiday: couples, families with young children or even large groups - they can sleep up to 32 in total. The entrance hall has a traditional wooden staircase typical of a building of its era. Downstairs a sitting room with open fire, TV, sofas, armchairs and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen is fitted with a small fridge/freezer, oven and plenty of cupboard space. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything from crockery and cookware to coffee filter and roasting trays. Upstairs there are two bedrooms: in Numbers 2, 4, 5 and 6 a double bed is in the principal bedroom, the others have twin beds. The second bedroom is smaller with full sized bunkbeds which can be used by children and adults. The bathroom has good old fashioned baths which you can fill up with hot water which is always a bonus after a long day on the hill. There is also an electric shower over the bath. Numbers 1, 3, 4 and 6 have a back porch which is suitable for wood and wellie storage. The cottages are in a good location below the Leckmelm Woods, No 1 and 2 overlooking Loch Broom. They are some yards above the main road and are therefore very quiet and tranquil. Only a few steps away are two footpaths. The woodland path leads to Leckmelm Burn - this is a low impact path and there is a picnic table en route. The other is the Leckmelm Bridleway which you can take over the hills either to Rhiddoroch and Ullapool or further afield to Oykel and the East Coast. This can be traversed on foot, horseback or mountain bike. |
